R.V. Ramani Filmmaker
R.V. Ramani is one of India’s most distinctive voices in independent documentary and avant-garde cinema.
Born in Mumbai, he graduated in Physics, took up photojournalism as a career, then studied at FTII, specializing in Cinematography in 1985. He shifted to Chennai and since then he has over 30 independent films to his credit, creating a niche for himself, through impressionistic, deeply subjective, and explorative approach, engaging with various aspects of expression. He regularly conducts filmmaking workshops at various Institutions. He recieved a National Award, Golden Medal, for Best Direction for his feature Documentary, ‘Oh That’s Bhanu’.
